Frequently Asked Questions
Is a prevention officer mandatory within a company?
Yes, a prevention officer is required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act. In a company with 25 employees or less, as an employer you can take on the role of prevention officer yourself. If you are above that, at least 1 employee shall be appointed as a prevention officer. You can read more background on what a prevention officer is in our blog.
Should a prevention officer be Health and Safety certified?
No, that is not mandatory. However, it is recommended, because following an emergency response training leads to more insight. In addition, for example, communication with emergency response organisations will go much better because the prevention officer knows more about the subject.
Can a prevention officer hold multiple sideline positions?
Yes indeed! However, care must be taken to ensure that sideline positions do not affect independence and objectivity. For example, a prevention officer can also perfectly fulfil the role of QHSE manager.
What will you learn during the prevention officer course?
Every organisation shall have an in-house prevention officer. As a prevention officer, you ought to have specific professional knowledge. A practical prevention officer course is therefore indispensable. V-Kam Education offers such a course. You will be taught by the very best teachers. They all have a considerable amount of practical knowledge. In addition, we also work on competencies and skills.
That means you or your staff will gain a better understanding of practical health and safety issues, but also how to actually apply this knowledge. As a result, a prevention officer who has obtained his certificate from us performs visibly better in practice!
Is the prevention officer course difficult?
