NEN 3140 Skilled Person (VP) | E-learning

Have you been appointed as a Skilled Person? We will train you to become a competent person within the framework of NEN 3140. With previous electrical engineering training or similar experience, you will meet the required quality requirements with this course. 

Good to know. This is an e-learning course. This means that you follow the training online, at times when it suits you.

Result

After attending this online course, including passing the official written exam for NEN 3140 VP, employer and participants meet the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. 

Employees appointed by the employer as Skilled Persons under NEN 3140 are authorised to carry out (more complex) electrotechnical work, such as performing work on low-voltage installations. 

Target audience

Anyone who performs work on electrical installations or wishes to be designated as a NEN 3140 Skilled Person. 

Please note: to attend the NEN 3140 Skilled Person course, you need to have had prior electrical engineering training or have successfully completed a NEN 3140 VOP course

Duration

This is an online course of about 6 hours, with a written exam.

Exam

This online training concludes with an exam. You can choose from more than 30 exam locations throughout the Netherlands. If you pass, you will recieve a certificate.

What is a Skilled Person? 

To meet the quality requirements of a Competent Person, you must have had prior electrical engineering training or be able to demonstrate similar experience. A Competent Person is above a Sufficiently Trained Person and may – after being instructed by the employer – carry out independent inspections on electrical installations. 

What makes you a Skilled Person under NEN 3140 VP?

Before you can call yourself a Skilled Person, you must meet a number of requirements. For example, you need to be able to assess the hazards and risks involved in electrical work, and it is important that you know how to carry out electrical work safely. With this recognized course you will meet these quality requirements.

Is a NEN 3140 VP certification required?

With this course, the employer and the candidate both comply with the requirements of the Working Conditions Act and the Labour Inspectorate for a Skilled Person in accordance with NEN 3140. 

What is the difference between VP and VOP? 

Through the NEN 3140 VOP course (Instructed Person), it is possible to carry out electrotechnical operations – with a limited risk – as a non-electrotechnically trained person. Please note: this is done with specific instructions and a specific indication by the employer. 

However, a Skilled Person (VP) is electrically trained and may – after designation by the employer – independently carry out work on low-voltage installations, for example.
